About
Monica Paek is an Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Paul P. Cheng & Associates, where she represents and assists clients in civil litigation matters. Her experience encompasses multiple stages of the litigation process, including pre-litigation case development, discovery, case management, settlement negotiations, mediation, arbitration, and depositions.
Monica brings a detail-oriented and strategic approach to litigation, with experience managing matters as they progress from initial case development through active litigation and dispute resolution. Her background also includes legal research, drafting legal documents, client intake and communication, and supporting the development of tort-related claims. This combination of substantive legal work and direct client interaction provides her with a practical understanding of both the legal and personal considerations that often accompany complex disputes.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Monica developed her legal foundation through hands-on experience as a legal assistant and law clerk. That experience provided her with exposure to the day-to-day demands of litigation and strengthened her skills in legal research, written advocacy, case preparation, and client communication.
Monica earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of La Verne College of Law & Public Service. During law school, she was named to the Dean’s List throughout her legal education and received several academic distinctions, including the Dean’s Merit Award recognizing top-10% academic achievement and the Paul Egly Endowed Scholarship.
Before law school, Monica earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Entrepreneurial Studies from the University of Southern California. While at USC, she was recognized on the Dean’s List and participated in several academic and professional organizations, including Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, the Society of Scholars, and Phi Sigma Alpha.
Monica’s academic background also includes research experience at USC, where she conducted extensive research examining demographic trends, electoral processes, and voting patterns. This research experience further developed the analytical and investigative skills she now brings to the practice of law.
